High-skilled labor mobility using LinkedIn
This project tracks the mobility of highly skilled labor through LinkedIn. The data from LinkedIn is a December 2022 Snapshot from Revelio Labs. This project enables me to:
Map US Compustat firms' global employee network
Obtain USPTO inventors' educational and work history on LinkedIn
Form I-129 Sponsors to Compustat
This project matches cap-subject i-129 form data to Compustat Ultimate Owner company names. Employer information, including Employer name, state, city, and tax number, is obtained from a FOIA request placed at the USCIS and approved in February 2024. The data pulled from the FOIA request covers H-1B lottery years 2008 and 2009 and all cap-subject applications from 2014 through 2020. The tax number is used to pull information from Form 5500 and provide a record-level match between publicly available Labor Condition Applications (LCA) from the Department of Labor. This project enables me to:
Match patenting and publication outcomes of H-1B employers using DISCERN 2.0
Match financial information of H-1B employers from Compustat
Obtain country-level information on approved cap-subject H-1B visa for lottery years
Indian Patent Office
The Indian Innovation Landscape has changed rapidly over the last few years. Common data sources for studying patent jurisdictions outside the US include PATSTAT and Google Patents (nominal or free sources). Neither of these sources covers the universe of granted patents and patent applications from the Indian Patent Office. Another source of Indian patent data is patents, also filed as PCT applications. However, these do not comprise all Indian patents and will likely be biased upwards in value. I compile all patent applications, assignee, inventor nationality, and location details from the Indian Patent Office portal - IP India services.
